Construction Contractor Implements Mobile App for COVID-19 Safety

Based in Maspeth, New York, Highbury Concrete consistently places safety at the top of its list of priorities. In response to recent events, Highbury Concrete has implemented a pandemic preparedness plan with a mobile application called Highbury Interactive Concrete Operations Network (HICON).

A multifunction app, HICON improves communications with the Highbury Concrete workforce and boosts workplace safety. An efficient tool for training workers on safety protocols, the app provides employees with rapid access to the company’s COVID-19 pandemic preparedness plan, safety data sheets, and the Centers for Disease Control COVID-19 Self-Checker that screens for symptoms. The app also sends emergency alerts to workers as necessary.

In addition to keeping safety information at their fingertips, employees can use the HICON app to check in at safety meetings and make suggestions or complaints to managers regarding workplace safety. Workers also can use the HICON app to call in sick if they experience symptoms.
